Final Ecosystem Projects

STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Apply ecological concepts to their local ecosystem.
- Integrate ecological concepts into a culminating project.

GUIDING QUESTIONS:
What is my local ecosystem?
What does it do for me?
What can I do to keep this ecosystem working?

MATERIALS:
- Determined by student project choice
- Food for celebration (optional)

CLASS ACTIVITIES:
1. Individually or in groups, students should prepare a final project that incorporates their knowledge of the local ecosystem. Projects can be essays, poems, paintings, drawings, dances, songs, slide shows, videos, etc., and should answer the following questions:

  • What is my local ecosystem?
  • What does it do for me?
  • What can I do to keep this ecosystem working?

2. Present projects on the last day of the unit (Friday, Week 16). Students may choose to invite guests. Culminate with a celebration of all of the students' hard work!
