Position Summary:
Environmental Education Interns will have the opportunity to learn about
local ecology of the Columbia River Gorge and how to develop and
implement effective environmental education programs. Interns will be
trained to assist in delivering the 10-week SECRETS ecology education
program to upper elementary students in the Gorge Region. Interns will
also assist in volunteer database development, event planning, and other
stewardship and education programs as needed. Interns will also plan and
implement outdoor school programming for two sessions of the Pathfinder
Outdoor School. Approximately 40% of the intern’s time will be spent in
classrooms, 25% on field trips and the other 35% in the office
coordinating programs, prepping materials, developing/revising
curriculum, and evaluating programs. Members will receive training, a
modest living stipend (~$1959 over three month period before taxes), and
an $1,000 Education Award upon completion of 300 hours.
