On Oct. 29, 2008 Columbia Gorge Ecology Institute and other
local natural resource/education partners hosted the 2008
Columbia Gorge Environmental Education Summit at the Underwood
Conservation District. This inaugural networking for educators
and natural resource partners in the Gorge region had 61
participants with an overwhelming success of knowledge gained,
contacts made, stories shared and inspiration felt.
The goal of this summit was to get more kids outside, improving
local environmental education collaboration and capacity by
providing a venue for learning about local environmental
education opportunities and successes. Special guest biologist,
David Moen, started the show off with a presentation of "Winged
Ones", a cultural and natural history of the California Condor
in the Columbia River Gorge! Through networking, presentations,
and displays teachers and partners shared program successes,
challenges and opportunities; learned from others; connected on
sharing resources and curriculum; and discussing local barriers
and strategies for implementing EE.
Here are a few of the evaluation results
of the EE Summit.
We look forward to another one in 2009! |
