Two new and creative ways to support us!

Without any extra cost to you we have two new ways for you to help us in delivering our programs to the communities of the Columbia Gorge.

The first way helps keep the world just a little bit greener, one pair of shoes at a time:

Do you have an old pair of shoes taking up room in your closet? We’ll take them! Are there some used running shoes that you haven’t worn since the 90’s sitting in your garage? We’ll take them! Are your kids growing out of their shoes and creating a pile of shoes too small for them to wear? We’ll take them! Let’s keep those old shoes out of the dump and put them back into use!

We’re teaming up with the ShoeBox Recycling program to recycle gently used shoes. After you bring us your old shoes we’ll send them to the ShoeBox Recycling organization where your shoes will find a new home. Your used shoes may turn into someone’s first pair of shoes, someone’s favorite pair of shoes, or someone’s greatly needed pair of shoes. You can even track where your shoes go and find your sole mate!

Please no big winter boots, UGG boots, rubber boots, big fuzzy slippers, ice & roller skates, slippers, flipflops, moldy shoes or shoes with holes/rips. Shoes must be wearable and in pairs.  We do accept all types of cleats. Get those pairs of shoes going!

In order to get your shoes to us you can drop them off in the box that we have outside of our office or you can arrange to meet with us by sending an email to info(at)gorgeecology(dot)org.

The second way is for any of you online shoppers in our network:

iGive.com – A new way to make donations without any extra cost to you. All you have to do is go to the iGive website and begin shopping. After you make a purchase and choose the Columbia Gorge Ecology Institute as your selected cause a small percentage of your purchase will be donated to us! You can even download the iGive button so that your browser will remind you when you are shopping at an iGive store.

Join iGive and help the Columbia Gorge Ecology Institute every time you shop online, the iGive Button makes it simple. It’s all free and so easy to be socially-conscious! iGive really is as simple as it sounds. iGive members can generate donations by shopping at any of the 1,200+ stores. There are no costs, obligations, nor any hidden fees. The stores make this possible because they want you to like them and shop at them over and over again. There’s 1,323 socially-responsible stores such as REI, Groupon, Amazon, Expedia, Priceline, Orbitz, Discovery Channel, Bed Bath $ Beyond, Best Buy, all helping to make donations happen.

We hope you’ll give it a try. Here’s the link to get started: http://www.igive.com/TOXkbn
